GAIT Privacy Policy

GAIT is committed to protecting your personal information and handling it responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have in relation to your data.

Information We Collect

GAIT collects only the information necessary to deliver the Career Assessment and related services. This may include:
• Name and contact details (for account setup and report delivery)
• Age range or demographic category (for contextual guidance)
• Assessment responses
• Partner or access code (if applicable)
• Guardian or payer contact details where the participant is a minor
We do not collect unnecessary or highly sensitive personal information such as identity numbers, financial account details, medical history, or biometric data.

Minors, Guardians, and Payers

GAIT may be completed by individuals under the age of 18, subject to the following safeguards:
• A parent or legal guardian must act as the payer for any minor completing the assessment
• The guardian will be notified of the assessment and its purpose
• By making payment, the guardian provides consent for the minor’s participation and for GAIT to process the minor’s information in accordance with this policy
• Reports generated for minors are intended for guidance and development purposes only
GAIT does not knowingly process a minor’s information without guardian consent.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to: • Generate and deliver your personalised GAIT Career Assessment report
• Communicate with you (or a guardian/payer, where applicable) regarding the assessment or results
• Improve, test, and refine GAIT’s assessment models and guidance frameworks
• Provide partner institutions with anonymised and aggregated insights only, where applicable
GAIT does not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Lawful Basis for Processing

GAIT processes personal information on the following lawful grounds, as permitted under POPIA:
• Consent (provided by the user or guardian, where applicable)
• Contractual necessity (to deliver the assessment and report you have paid for)
• Legitimate interests (to improve GAIT’s services and guidance model)

Automated Guidance Disclaimer

GAIT uses structured assessment logic and analytical models to generate personalised career guidance.
• The assessment provides informational and developmental insights only
• It does not constitute professional psychological, medical, or employment advice
• GAIT does not make automated decisions that produce legal or material effects on users
Users or guardians may request clarification regarding results at any time.

Data Storage & Security

Personal information is stored securely on encrypted servers
• GAIT takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access
• Payment information is processed through Paystack’s secure payment gateway and is never stored by GAIT

Some service providers (such as email or analytics platforms) may process data outside South Africa. In such cases, GAIT ensures appropriate safeguards are in place in line with POPIA requirements.

Data Retention

• Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy
• GAIT may retain fully anonymised data for research, reporting, and product improvement
• You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data at any time

Payment Terms & Access Conditions
The following terms govern payment and access to GAIT services.
Currency
All transactions are processed in South African Rand (ZAR).
Payment Provider
All payments are securely handled via Paystack.
Access & Confirmation
Upon successful payment, users receive:
• Payment confirmation by email
• Immediate access to the GAIT Career Assessment

Minors
Where the participant is a minor:
• Payment must be made by a parent or legal guardian
• Payment constitutes consent for participation

Refunds
All payments are final and non-refundable, including partner or institutional purchases.

Failed Payments
If a payment fails, please retry or contact support for assistance.

Fraud & Misuse
Fraudulent activity, misuse of access codes, or unauthorised sharing of GAIT content may result in suspension and legal action.

Ownership
Payment grants access to GAIT’s assessment and reports.
All content, systems, and intellectual property remain the property of GAIT.
